NBC Cancels the Comedies 'Grand Crew,' 'Young Rock'
LOS ANGELES – NBC has cancelled the second-year sitcom “Grand Crew,” and the “Young Rock,” now in its third season with fellow comedy “American Auto” awaiting a decision on its future.
The network has also ordered the mockumentary series “St. Denis Medical,” although the fate of its three other pilots, the comedy Non-Evil Twin with Amber Ruffin and the dramas “Murder by the Book” and “Wolf” are still to be decided.
“St. Denis Medical,” a mockumentary from Universal TV and creator and writer Justin Spitzer, who also is behind NBC’s last other bubble show, American Auto. about a struggling Oregon hospital where its dedicated doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients while trying to maintain their sanity.
Wendi McClendon-Covey stars in the series, her first role since the end of her previous series “The Goldbergs” which ended its 10th season last year.
The Spitzer co-created St. Denis Medical with Eric Ledgin, with Simon Heuer attached as an exec producer. Ruben Fleischer directed and exec produced the pilot. The cast includes David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Mekki Leeper and Kahyun Kim.
