SyFy Cancels 'Defiance' After Three Seasons

LOS ANGELES - SyFy has canceled its futuristic drama "Defiance" after finishing its third season. The move comes days after the network canceled "Dominion."
“Defiance” was known for its multi-platform storytelling as the series’ plotlines were specifically geared to meld with the storylines of the "Defiance" video game. The TV show followed the conflict between seven alien races existing on a devastated planet Earth.
Kevin Murphy served as executive producer and showrunner of of “Defiance,” which completed its 13-episode third and final season this summer.
“‘Defiance’ was a truly groundbreaking series, delivering an immersive, cross-platform experience that transcended the television screen in a way that viewers had never seen before. We are incredibly proud of the work of the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — and especially showrunner Kevin Murphy — who together brought the rich world of ‘Defiance’ to life over its three season arc,” SyFy said in a statement.
